Full moon swimmers
This full moon was actually a week, or more, ago. I only just imported my pics and remembered I took some photographs of the shimmery path it lay down, so enticingly, on the water.
My camera seems to work fine at dusk. The ghosts only come out in the daylight. As you can see here, it's nothing but cool, blue, wet perfection. There are kids in that water, but you can't see them.
I envied them the feeling of slipping into silky darkness after dinner. I, joyless adult that I am, couldn't make myself do it because it was no longer hot and I didn't feel like putting my wet bathing suit back on. Silly grownup details.
What happens to us?

Those pictures are gorgeous! I especially love the second one with the silhouette. Makes me want to go find a cabin by a lake and enjoy the last days of summer.
Beautiful ! You made me smile... I did not go swimming last week-end for the exact same reason. I just used the excuse that my 3-year-old did not want to go because he was cold. Shame on me.
There is a failing I feel in myself from this inability to be calm and just experience night and water together with the girls. Perhaps most of it is that they are 5 and 2 and not the worlds best swimmers yet. And that the 2 year old is suicidally fearless. I mean, she climbed a damn 8 foot ladder when she was 18 months old one time. But I'm working on it. "Thanks" to the drought finding water deep enough to drown in here in Texas is a bit hard, so I'll cut our night-water teeth on some small streams for now...
Also. Stock up on swim suits now that they're going out of season and cheap cheap cheap so you have a backup in case the alpha suit is still wet. It's a perk of adulthood- this never having to put on a wet bathing suit again.
beautiful pictures! of course the solution to the wet bathing suit is skinny dipping! =)
Seamingly Sarah: Skinny dipping, and the fact that I rarely do that anymore, is yet another story. But you are right. To hell with the suits. It was dark.
Lauren A.: a good life jacket for Isla has improved our lives tremendously. Though she can swim, albeit weakly and it always looks as if she is drowning, she's always got it on at the lake just so I can relax and she can follow the big kids around.
Beautiful photos Betsy. Am quite envious of your time away. I can't believe your point and shoot took those. Did you use a tripod? Need to go swimming again before the Canadian winter sets in. Missing the ocean already... :)
